New Chairman for ESU Malta

One of the founder members of The English-Speaking Union of Malta, Malcolm J. Naudi, has been elected its new Chairman.

He succeeds John de Giorgio, who has been Chairman since 2012 and, in turn, took over from ESU Malta’s founding Chairman, Martin Scicluna. Mr de Giorgio stepped down due to pressing commercial and other commitments.

Mr Naudi has a career spanning over 35 years in journalism and public relations. He has been running his eponymous PR firm MJN Communications since 2008 and is also the local franchise holder of FranklinCovey, a global company with expertise in seven areas: leadership, execution, productivity, trust, sales performance, customer loyalty, and education.

For 14 years Mr Naudi was Chairman of the Institute of Maltese Journalists. He is a Trustee and Board Secretary of the Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism and a Board Member responsible for PR of the Malta Guide Dogs Foundation.

He has been the ESU’s PR officer and a member of the main Board since it was set up in 2009. Commenting on his election, Mr Naudi said: “It is a great honour to be unanimously elected to head ESU Malta, having seen it through the early years of its development to an organisation that has a great contribution to make to Malta in a number of key areas.

“We very much see the ESU as a place where fluency in English and skills, like debating and public speaking, have a home, one that is complimentary, and of support, to the other language skills needed in a competitive economy that is outward-looking and dynamic.”

ESU Malta has both a website www.esumalta.org and a Facebook page, English-Speaking Union of Malta.
